WATCH: Murphy details efforts in South Jersey in fireside chat with BINJE Editor Bergeron
Governor, in 45-minute program in Atlantic City, details hits and misses in region during his time in office, touching on specifics in Camden and Atlantic City as well as bigger-picture thoughts on startups, transportation and energy
In a revealing 45-minute fireside chat Wednesday at the Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City, Gov. Phil Murphy detailed his administration’s hits and misses in the South Jersey.
“I’m proud of what we’ve done, notwithstanding the fact that it’s not perfect,” he told a crowd of more than 100 and hundreds more watching on live stream.
Murphy touched on a number of issues, starting with his efforts in Atlantic City which called “a work in progress” and Camden, where he said the upward trajectory is undeniable.
The governor also announced new $5 million in funding for transportation projects — the result of a long push from South Jersey business and economic leaders to get some type of return for the millions they send in taxes through the corporate transit fee.
Murphy also gave his thoughts on why he hopes the offshore wind industry in New Jersey is only delayed — not done forever — giving his efforts there an ‘incomplete’ grade.
In a lighter moment to close the show, Bergeron, the editor of BINJE.com, got Murphy to reveal some insights on one of his favorite topics: sports. www.binje.com
When asked which Philly sports heroes would help make up the ultimate dinner party, he noted Moses Malone, Julius Erving, Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton would all have an invite.
