Contract Project Manager #25-00728

Job Description

Our client, a small, non-profit association, is looking to add a Project Manager to their team in Mt. Laurel, NJ. (this is a Contract role, estimated 6 month assignment)
$30/hr-$40/hr. Hybrid


This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing multiple association-led projects—often involving member committees, volunteer groups, and external partners. The Project Manager ensures that project timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met while supporting collaboration across departments and fostering strong member engagement.


General Responsibilities

  • Serve as an ambassador of the association's values, mission, and commitment to its membership.
  • Collaborate with senior staff and volunteer leadership to support strategic planning for assigned projects.
  • Collect, monitor, and present project-related data—including financial, operational, and member-driven metrics—to committees and leadership to support informed decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including schedules, budgets, workflows, committee materials, and progress summaries.
  • Ensure adherence to established association processes, procedures, and governance guidelines.
  • Participate in association events and meetings, identifying opportunities for improvement and sharing insights to strengthen programs and member engagement.

Essential Duties

  • Serve as the primary project liaison for volunteer committees, task forces, and work groups.
  • Develop, manage, and track project plans, budgets, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Oversee project execution from approval through completion, coordinating internal staff, volunteer leaders, and external vendors or partners.
  • Facilitate communication between members, staff, sponsors, and vendors to ensure clear alignment of goals and responsibilities.
  • Manage multiple concurrent initiatives with attention to deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Provide regular updates on project milestones, resource needs, and key indicators.
  • Support volunteer management by outlining roles, responsibilities, and action items clearly and consistently.
  • Recommend solutions, process improvements, and resource needs to support project success and enhance member experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Associate's degree with additional relevant experience accepted.
  • Minimum 2 years of demonstrated experience in project management, preferably within a non-profit, association, or membership-driven environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication skills with experience supporting volunteer committees or member groups.
  • Experience with event or meeting coordination is a plus, particularly in a professional association setting.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
