Acenda Announces Retirement of Greg Speed, Chief Integration Officer

GLASSBORO, NJ (December 20, 2021) - Acenda announces the retirement of Greg Speed, Chief Integration Officer, effective January 4, 2022. Greg has worked within the behavioral health sector for the past 48 years. His decades-long career includes leadership positions at Family Service Association (FSA), as well as Cape Counseling Services where his direction and vision as CEO were instrumental in the merger that created Acenda in 2019.

"I want to extend a personal thank you to Greg for all that he has done for Acenda. His direction and leadership provided the foundation for a seamless and successful merger with Cape Counseling Services and Acenda. His drive and commitment to our staff and programs will absolutely be missed," says Dr. Anthony DiFabio, President & CEO of Acenda.

Greg joined Acenda in 2019 after 37 years at Cape Counseling Services, where he served as the Unit Director of Screening and Specialized Services from 1982 to 1995 and the Vice President of Mental Health Services from 1995 to 2000, and finally as CEO from 2000 to 2019. At Acenda, Greg continued his impressive career as the Chief Integration Officer, guiding the merger of Cape Counseling Services and Acenda.

Through his tenure, Greg has served on multiple boards. He has chaired the Human Services Advisory Committee, the Cape Alliance Steering Committee, the Health Community Coalition, and the Long-Term recovery Group after Hurricane Sandy. He has also served for 15 years on the Cape Atlantic Integrated Network for Kids Board, 6 years on the Mental Health Corporation of America Board, and many years on the NJAMHAA Board of Directors, Children’s Committee and Governance Committee.

Greg currently serves as a Trustee on CVAC (Citizens Veterans Advisory Committee) and the Atlantic/Cape Coalition Against Veteran Suicide. He is also a chair for the Cape May County Alliance Steering Sub-Committee, which reports to the MHADA Board (Mental Health Alcohol and Drug Addiction) and works with the County Municipal Alliances. Greg also sits on the Cape Regional Wellness Alliance Committee.

Greg received his undergraduate degree from Niagara University in 1973 with a double major in both Philosophy and Social Work. He went onto St. Louis University, Missouri and received his MSW in 1975.

As Greg transitions to retirement, he would like to say thank you to Dr. DiFabio and the Acenda Board of Trustees for allowing him to serve in the capacity of Chief Integration Officer. “Looking back, I am very proud of my 40 years at Cape Counseling Services and Acenda. I was blessed to work with a stellar executive team at both organizations and have always believed in our mission to serve our communities with professional excellence, humility, and compassion.”
