Alcantara Named President-Elect of Philadelphia IABC
Trenton, NJ – Dec. 15, 2020 - Rick Alcantara, executive communications director at Princeton Strategic Communications, was named president-elect of the Philadelphia Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators during the organization’s December board meeting. His two-year term begins on January 1.
In his new role, Alcantara will help direct the group’s events, membership, professional development, communications and volunteers. He currently serves as the chapter’s vice president of communications.
“This is my second time serving on the IABC board,” said Alcantara. “I was part of the leadership team 10 years ago and returned because I want to help the chapter grow and provide professional development opportunities to professionals and students across the Philadelphia region.”
Earlier in his career, Alcantara was a two-time national committee co-chair for the Public Relations Society of America and president of the Philadelphia Chapter of PRSA. He was also vice president of the Professional Communicators of Southern New Jersey and a board member of the Gloucester County Business Association. He’s currently a member of PRSA’s esteemed Counselor’s Academy.
Prior to joining Princeton Strategic Communications, Alcantara managed media relations for the Project Management Institute, directed social media for USI Affinity and led Tara Communications LLC, a digital public relations and marketing company he founded. He also served as an adjunct instructor at Rowan University for seven years.
Alcantara earned a master’s degree in public relations from Rowan University and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Susquehanna University.
