Grand Opening of Club Café at Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City
The Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City will hold the grand opening of its Club Café on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m. at 317 N. Pennsylvania Avenue in Atlantic City.
A social enterprise, Club Café provides employment opportunities for Boys & Girls Club members and members of the community ages 18 to 24. Under the direction of Executive Chef Pam Green, staff are trained as baristas and cooks, learning marketable skills and credentials for the workforce. The café will serve coffee and light fare, such as breakfast sandwiches and muffins. It will be open to the public from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. weekdays.
“Club Café is an opportunity for young adults to learn important skills that will ultimately help them succeed in the workforce,” said Dr. Charles A Wallace II, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City. “We are intentionally focusing on opportunities to offer industry recognized certifications and training to this particular age group. This aligns with our two-generational service goals. Chef Pam has done an amazing job setting up the café and working with the staff. We encourage everybody to come out and support our young people, as we're preparing them to be the best they can be.”
Club Café was made possible by a generous gift from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City. Since its opening in 2018, the Hard Rock has been an ongoing supporter of the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City.
“Hard Rock is proud to support the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City for this important initiative that will provide hands-on experience and training for the youths in our community. This program is an excellent opportunity for these young adults to gain invaluable work experience and we hope that everyone in the community comes out to support them. As a person who started dishwashing at age 15, I know how valuable learning hospitality skills through food and beverage are, and we applaud their efforts,” stated George Goldhoff, President, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City.
