Jefferson Washington Township Hospital Earns “A” Grade for 5th Consecutive Time
in Leapfrog Safety Grades
Cherry Hill, NJ –November 15, 2024 --Jefferson Washington Township Hospital earned “Straight A” status in the Hospital Safety Grade for Fall 2024. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. Jefferson’s two other New Jersey hospitals – Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital and Jefferson Stratford Hospital – both earned “B” grades in the Fall 2024 Safety Grades.
“At a time when healthcare organizations are more vital than ever to the communities we serve, it is rewarding to be recognized by Leapfrog for our ongoing commitment to patient safety,” said Jefferson East Region President Aaron Chang, FACHE. “As a “Straight A” facility, Jefferson Washington Township Hospital has earned an “A” in at least five consecutive Hospital Safety Grade cycles –- an uncommon and impressive achievement that makes a facility truly stand out in terms of patient quality and safety.”
David May, MD, FACS, Jefferson’s Chief Patient Safety and Quality Officer in New Jersey, added that the organization “is especially proud of our doctors, nurses, other clinicians, and all valued team members, who have put in place best practices to achieve excellent clinical outcomes for our patients.”
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for Jefferson Washington Township Hospital,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to Jefferson, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
