Legacy Treatment Services Chief Executive Officer Roy Leitstein Named a NJBIZ HealthCare Hero

Member Announcements

HAINESPORT, N.J. (August 9, 2022) – Roy Leitstein, Chief Executive Officer for Legacy Treatment Services, has been selected for the 2022 HealthCare Heroes Award by NJBIZ.

This program recognizes individuals and organizations significantly impacting the quality of health care in New Jersey.

"His passion for helping others while carrying out Legacy's mission to change the behavioral health and social service outcomes for people of all ages from surviving to thriving is a way of life for him," Chief Business Officer Nick DeRose said. "His ability to inspire and lead by example is demonstrated daily."

Leitstein, who began his career in social services while serving in the United States Army and volunteering for the Exceptional Family Member Program, has served as Executive Director of Legacy Treatment Services since its inception in 2015. Legacy was formed from the merger of The Children’s Home, where he was Executive Director for nine years, and The Drenk Center. He was instrumental in growing Legacy and its continuum of care with an affiliation with Community Treatment Solutions in 2017.

Under his leadership, the agency has grown exponentially. This growth occurred despite the pandemic and amid regulatory change. Since 2019 alone, this includes an affiliation with Woods Services and partnerships with Virtua and Salem Medical Center. Legacy currently operates more than 70 programs across the entire state of New Jersey and serves more than 20,000 individuals a year.

Leitstein was previously honored as a Veteran of Influence by the Philadelphia Business Journal in 2018 as someone who served his country with honor and is now making a difference in the Greater Philadelphia business community.

"Roy Leitstein is a perfect example of a leader," DeRose said.

All 2022 HealthCare Heroes Award honorees were recognized by NJBIZ during an in-person awards ceremony on Wednesday, August 10th, at The Palace at Somerset Park.
